Digital Pack Rat or Digital Packrat is a term for a computer user who downloads any file they encounter and saves it to any storage device, in particular a hard drive or DVD burner and subsequently never deletes them.
The term appeared as far back as 2001, in an article by Joe Farace in Computer User http://www.computeruser.com/articles/daily/7,4,1,0322,01.html, and has become more widespread since http://zenhabits.net/2007/08/a-3-step-cure-for-digital-packrats-and-how-to-know-if-youre-one-of-them/http://www.microsoft.com/atwork/quiz/digitalpackrat.mspx.
